MULTIMEDIA

Here's a film I made in October 2019 with In Echo. This Buonamente sonata is part of a recital of music from 17th-century Habsburg Vienna.
A short trailer made by I Fagiolini explaining our performance of Bovicelli's 'Ave verum corpus' divisions, recorded as part of the Gramophone Award-nominated disc 'Monteverdi: The Other Vespers' (Decca). This was such a great thing to be part of.
Three trailers to promote In Echo's CD 'Music in a Cold Climate: sounds of Hansa Europe'. You can read some of the amazing reviews for this disc here.

I Fagiolini's 'Monteverdi: the Other Vespers' recording/concert project was a great one to be involved with. It included this wonderful 14-part Magnificat by Giovanni Gabrieli.
This instrumental performance of Rore's madrigal 'Ancor che col partire' includes diminutions by Giovanni Battista Bovicelli dating from 1594. It was part of a recital called 'Echoes of Venice' that ECSE gave in the 2015 Rye Arts Festival. There are plenty more videos on ECSE's YouTube channel.

This performance of Tantum ergo Sacramentum by Tomas Luis de Victoria was filmed at Snape Maltings, Suffolk, UK. All 4 voices feature diminutions written by myself. The piece was performed as part of a concert given by The English Cornett & Sackbut Ensemble and the vocal ensemble I Fagiolini in April 2015.

A performance with Dutch ensemble Musica Amphion and The Gesualdo Consort Amsterdam including Bach's funeral motet 'O Jesu Christ mein Lebens Licht' BWV118. This piece begins at 34'. Josue Melendez and I perform the 'lituus' parts on mute cornetts pitched at A=465, a whole tone above the rest of the ensemble which performed at A=415. The concert was given in Amsterdam's Waalse Kerk on September 25th 2014.

This short film was made during recording sessions in February 2014 in which The English Cornett & Sackbut Ensemble worked alongside the vocal group Alamire. This recording of music from the time of Henry VIII was a great opportunity to combine cornetto with other typical loud winds of that time, namely slide trumpet, shawm and trombone. We think the mixture works really well (…and for those that might be interested, I'm playing a straight cornetto made by Christoph Schuler. The entire project was performed at A=466).

This is a clip from a recent concert I gave with Ensemble Leones in Worms, Germany. This track (in which I play mute cornetto) was also recorded as part of the CD Les Fantaisies de Josquin.

In the summer of 2012 we performed Striggio's Mass in 40 parts in York Minster to an audience on the move. Another I Fagiolini extravaganza....

A short film by Musica Amphion about the 'Bach in Context' Jesu meine Freude CD project:

This is a trailer for a CD I recorded with the Vienna-based ensemble Dolce Risonanza. The music is all by Orlando di Lasso, his Psalmi Poenitentiales. This recording also features the fantastic vocal group Profeti della quinta
